8 Dating Tips EVERY Woman Should Know.

Every culture has different sets of rules they follow. Everything from how we eat to how we do our hair is subject to social rules. Nowhere is this more apparent than when it comes to dating. Now some of the advice may not apply to you, some may be laughable, and some may make you roll your eyes.

But some of these tips for women can make dating and mating so much easier. Finding and snagging Mr. Right can be as easy as following some of these helpful hints.

Here are some awesomely good dating tips for women.

1) Men love elusive women. Try not to reveal too much information at once. Don’t tell him your life history, your blood type, the last time you had a bowel movement — just keep him wondering about you.

2) No matter what your salary, try to look great wherever you are. You never know when that special guy is hanging out just around the corner.

3) No matter how tempting, don’t discuss old boyfriends and lovers. Especially their prowess in bed. Most men are visual thinkers, so if you launch into a discussion of a past sex life, he’s bound to be imagining you having sex with another guy. Not cool.

4) Don’t come across as needy or desperate. It’s easy to want to cling to someone you really, really dig, but most guys will turn and run if you become the clingy girl.

5) Likewise, if the guy you’re seeing turns out to be a clingy emotional vampire? Don’t be afraid to dump his ass. You need a guy calling you every five seconds like you need a hole in your head.

6) You don’t have to wait for him to come to you — go ahead, approach that hottie at the end of the bar. You’re hot, you know it, so why not flaunt it?

7) Don’t ever, EVER knock his mother. She can be the most hellish woman on the planet, but if you want to date, simply smile and nod when he mentions his mom.

8) Try to act as much like a lady as possible on the first few dates. Leave poop jokes, farting, burping, and other indelicate actions at the door. You want to come across as a lady, not as a guy with boobs.

What dating tips do YOU have to offer other women?

Date

Women love to date, no matter who pays.

It seems when it comes to dating, women just love it. A British study has found women to be taking the lead when it comes to find love, with one-fourth of them dating three or more men at the same time. Research shows that the average single female is regularly seeing at least two

prospective partners at one time and they date five men a year, the Daily Express reported.

According to the study carried out by restaurant chain TGI Friday, however, only 18 percent of the fairer sex thought the man should pay during the date. Half of the men agreed, saying that woman should contribute or go halves.

Nearly a third of females said traditional dating rules no longer applied, with a quarter having asked a man out rather than waiting for him to make a move.

Also, one in four in a relationship would consider proposing, with nine in 10 men wanting girlfriends to do so, according to the study.

Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion Week autumn/winter 2012:

In praise of bolder women.

There’s a unifying theme among the women pictured on this page: they all look terrific. They also happen to be over 40. Some of them are over 50 – and beyond. And all are wearing current fashion, in its myriad guises. Furthermore, they were being hungrily “papped” away by the photographers in Milan this week. Jil Sander’s time will come next season. In a surprise statement at the weekend, Onward Holdings, the Japanese owners of her line, announced that, at the age of 68, the Hamburg-based designer is to return to the eponymous label she founded in 1968. It was the talk of the town.

So, let’s check our facts: grown-up women who dress like grown-up women were the real head-turners in Milan. This is more than a little surprising. For this is Italy, the resolutely unreconstructed realm of the Berlusconi babe, bunga-bunga parties and pouty, bosomy newsreaders who look like Page 3 girls.

Vogue

‘Trendy tokenism? Older models are here to stay’

Perhaps it’s the influence of those demurely dressed Chinese and Middle Eastern customers who are currently keeping Italian brands afloat. Perhaps it’s the clout of all those magazine editors such as US Glamour ‘s Cynthia Leive, French Vogue Emmanuelle Alt or her opposite on Italian Vogue , Franca Sozzani, a dawning realisation about the demographic that really holds the purse strings, or a confluence of all three, but hemlines have dropped, necklines have risen and sleeves sprouted. When there are no sleeves, long gloves that reach right up the armpits step into the breach. Coats are all-enveloping classics, sometimes with military details, at other times belted trench shapes or Fifties-inspired duster coats.

They all combine of-the-minute currency with built-in longevity – and minimum gimmickry.

And what about all the ladylike structured handbags, high-heeled courts, glossy knee-high boots, notable absence of bondage shoes and a general emphasis on confident sleekness rather than slightly desperate kinkiness?

If these were boring clothes, this wouldn’t be any cause for celebration – but they aren’t. Whether it’s the curve of a moulded jacket, a sweep of blush pink or coral, a film-noirish cocktail dress (think body-protective rather than body-conscious), or a flash of neon directing the gaze towards some toe cleavage, these are not, repeat not, clothes for sinking invisibly into apologetic dotage. There are not many baggy, bulky layers on next winter’s agenda – which should please all those women who take pains to keep in shape. “Interestingly, you think softness is good as you get older but, actually, tailoring and a certain kind of dramatic flourish can do you more favours,” said Alberta Ferretti, 61, after her show, which illustrated that transition perfectly, with plenty of Mistress-of-the-Universe pinstripes and cocktail dresses. “It’s good to change, don’t you think? Or maybe I should say to evolve.”

Dolce & Gabbana

Milan Fashion Week: Dolce & Gabbana autumn/winter 2012

We’ve seen the arrival of grown-up fashion heralded before – so regularly that it has become something of a trope. What’s different is that, this time round, there are increasingly prominent role models to wear it – from 64-year-old Glenn Close at the Oscars, throwing awe-inspiring curves in her Zac Posen, to 45-year-old Salma Hayek radiant at last week’s Gucci show; Monica Bellucci, 47, whose pout stars in Dolce’s lipstick campaign, or 60-year-old Anna Wintour, who retains an aura of immaculate glamour whatever decade she’s in. And encouragingly, they all do it their own way.

“What I used not to like about fashion, ” said Bellucci at the Dolce show, “was that it used to be all about doing things one way. There was one law and everyone had to try to fit into it, for everybody to be the same. I hate this.”

Thankfully, that’s no longer the case, as the best of the Milan shows demonstrated. While there was a consensus of below-the-knee skirts, there were shorter ones, too. If jackets are your keystone, you can chose from cropped, mannish or figure-hugging, or you can soften your tailoring with a multiplicity of supple knits – or even spice it with some kick-ass leather.

Clothes can’t, alas, guarantee happiness, but they can change your outlook for the better. And once you’re past 30, they really start to earn their keep, which is why sometimes fashion can be so frustrating when it doesn’t seem to be catering to the women who have the money to enjoy it.

“There is a transition,” muses Bellucci. “Women aren’t so scared any more. We can’t say: ‘Oh, when you’re in your forties or fifties or sixties, you’re still so sexy’ – it’s not really true…You have a something else – you play more on elegance, or sensuality, than being only sexy. You become adult.”

Soviet Style

Embracing Soviet Style

Vassiliev’s current Moscow exhibit, “Fashion Behind the Iron Curtain,” explores a less heralded period of Soviet style.  His vast collection is the backbone of the show, which also includes museum collections.  “This is the first exhibition of its kind. We are showing the personal dresses, bags and hats of the biggest stars in the Soviet Union,” he said. The costumes once belonged to famous artists like prima ballerinas Galina Ulanova and Maya Plisetskaya, actresses Lyubov Orlova and Valentina Serova, and Lyudmila Gurchenko.

“Some of the dresses are homemade and some of them are American made, others were smuggled through the black market or came back with sailors or artists on tour,” Vassiliev added.

“This era had a very controversial relationship with fashion, which was declared a hangover from the bourgeois past,” said Irina Korotkikh, curator of the Soviet fashion exhibit at the Tsaritsyno Palace in Moscow. “Today it is hard to imagine the lengths to which the icons of the time had to go to keep up the image of genuine stars.”

Vassiliev knows something of this era, and he has designed his much-photographed Paris apartment and Vilnius summer home in the manner of the exiled aristocrat, a fin-de-siecle tribute that honors the beauty and rituals of days gone by with bamboo furniture, sumptuous fabrics in rich royal colors, overlong curtains, antique books and ceramic pitchers.  His mother, a lyrical beauty, was a Bolshoi actress. His father was at one time president of the design guild.

“My father was sponsoring my fancy desires,” he said, smiling. “They actually liked what I did and I managed to collect a great deal.”

In 1982, at the age of 23, Vassiliev married a young French woman and moved to Paris. He stayed in Paris and joined a circle of Russian émigrés and still considers Paris his home. He lives there when he is not doing his television show.

He has worked extensively as a designer for the French theater scene, the Avignon Festival and the Ballet du Nord. He has also designed costumes for the Las Vegas Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, the Polish Ballet and the National Ballet of Mexico—to name just a few.

Still, most of his time these days is consumed by television. On a recent episode of “Fashion Verdict,” a young mother wearing ill-fitting jeans and a grey hoodie peered at Vassiliev doubtfully, squinting through her horn-rimmed glasses.

She spoke about her long days working for a film company on location on city streets, then running home and caring for her young children and husband in their small Moscow apartment. Just as the audience was beginning to feel her pain, her mood lightened and she walked away with a closet full of clothes that had the blessing of Evelina Khromtchenko, Vassiliev’s co-host and the indomitable edimatrix of fashion magazines. The show ends on a dreams-can-come-true-it-can-happen-to-you kind of note.

“I want to help them be more sure of themselves, to be self confident,” Vassiliev said of the women on the show. “Then even if they don’t get a man, they can’t blame their clothes.”

Russian fashion

The Russian television show, “Fashion Verdict” destroys the stereotype that all Russian women dress in shapely dresses, chinchilla jackets and Sex-In-The-City heels.

Thirty million viewers turn to state-owned Channel One every week to watch Russian fashion pundits interrogate busy working women about their clothing and appearance.  The contestants selected for the show represent Russian women who don’t usually get a lot of play and who are considered almost invisible.

The popular co-host on the show, Alexandre Vassiliev, recently visited New York and Washington, D.C., for the first time in a decade. The trip was a respite from his new life as a TV celebrity in Moscow, where he has discovered that there is famous—and then there is really famous.

Vassiliev is a heralded costume designer, collector and author well known in Moscow and his second hometown, Paris, where he went into exile in the early 1980s. But these days he can’t walk down Moscow’s main streets without being lovingly accosted by fans.

“It’s an incredible fame in the two and a half years since I stepped into this show. I have written about the history of fashion and designed more than 100 ballets, yet now it is difficult to walk on Tverskaya,” he said during an interview while visiting D.C., where he has no trouble walking down K Street. “I am very pleased of course with the success.”Vassiliev said he came on the show as a “minister of happiness.” Russia is more than 60 percent female, he said, adding that some women, statistically speaking, just cannot find a man and that alcoholism and prison reduces the number of available men. (He said that American women have an easier time finding a mate, since in the United States, there are more men than women.)

“I want to make women happy,” he said.

Vassiliev was in town talking to the Kennedy Center management about supporting an exhibit from his costume collection.  Vassiliev hopes to bring 50-60 Ballet Russe pieces for an exhibit slated to open in the center’s terrace exhibition room.

In his book, “Beauty in Exile: The Artists, Models and Nobility who Fled the Russian Revolution and Influenced the World of Fashion,” Vassiliev opens with the ballet impresario Sergei Diaghilev and the Ballet Russe. In the book, he explains how the visionary’s dramatic sense of style, as well as his obsessions with Orientalism and antiquity, captivated audiences around the world.Vassiliev bought his first costume when he was sixteen years old. He said he was lucky that his father, a Bolshoi designer himself, supported his desire to collect costumes from a young age; Vassiliev now has a collection of 10,000 dresses and costumes.

Paris fashion week

Boyish look steals limelight at start of Paris fashion week

Paris fashion week is rarely known for understatement, as confirmed by Portuguese designer Fatima Lopes who opened the fall-winter 2012 season with a proverbial bang at the iconic war museum, Invalides, that houses canons and artillery.

When the fashionistas finally managed to unstick themselves from wandering tourists, the message of the Lopes show rang out loud and clear: female flesh is the real source of fire-power, with the offering of sensual, if slightly busy, sheath ensembles.

The short first day of the nine-day Paris fashion race is reserved for up-and-coming talent. Because of its hit-or-miss reputation, Tuesday is avoided by many fashion editors.

However, rising star Julien David, who delved playfully into men’s clothing, proves that the day does deserve the limelight.

Model

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan shows off her puffy ‘pillow face’…

and vows she is ready for her close-up.

While Lindsay Lohan doesn’t appear to have gained weight, her face looked much rounder and the overall effect left her looking older than her 25 years.

Increasing numbers of celebrities are getting the plumped-up look, as opposed to the pinched back ‘wind tunnel’ results of a face-lift or the ‘frozen’ Botox  look.

Lindsay stepped out ahead of the airing of a frank new interview with the Today show’s Matt Lauer in which she said she’s put the past behind her and is finally ready for a career comeback.

Lindsay Lohan may only be 25, but she appears to already be a big fan of cosmetic treatments.

The fallen starlet stepped out in New York ahead of her Saturday Night Live appearance, and showed off a very puffy ‘pillow face’ – the term given to women who overuse facial fillers.

The actress joins Madonna and Kylie Minogue as the most obvious examples of stars whose ever youthful glow suggests they may have had fat implants in their cheeks, causing the ‘pillow face effect’.

After a messy few years sprinkled with jail time, court appearances and house arrests, Lohan swears she’s finally cleaned up her act and  realises she needs to prove herself.

In the interview, which will be screened in the U.S. on Thursday, the Mean Girls star says: ‘I think that’s gonna take time…and I think that it’s actions.

‘Because people can say things all they want, but I think I still need to go through the process of proving myself with SNL, being on time, being, you know, keeping my – can’t say the word – but stuff together.’ Lohan certainly looked well put together in a sophisticated LBD and elegant heels.

She appeared alert and coherent in a bid to prove herself.

She says: ‘I don’t want people to have that reason to be scared anymore. So being able to have this opportunity with SNL and the film, I’m gonna do what I’m supposed to do, and enjoy doing it, and do it as best as I can.’

The former hard-partying starlet also promises that she’s not going out anymore, and claims she’s actually morphed into a ‘homebody’.

‘It’s not my thing anymore,’ she says. ‘I went out, actually, a few months ago with a friend. And I was so uncomfortable.

‘Not because I felt tempted, just because it was just the same thing that it always was before. And it just wasn’t fun for me.

‘I’ve become more of a homebody. And I like that.’

She also confirmed her plans to play Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming biopic.

She reveals: ‘We’re in the middle of casting and figuring – we start production soon.

‘I’ve been doing tons of research. But I’ve always kind of researched her. She’s always been a fascinating woman to me, so I’m really honoured.

‘And I will not let anyone down, especially myself.’

The actress is one court case away from putting the plethora of legal troubles she’s been plagued with since her 2007 arrest for drunk driving behind her.

Lindsay will host Saturday Night Live on March 3 for the fourth time and seemed excited today as she shot a promo for the hit NBC sketch show.

Jennifer Garner

Finally… it’s a boy! Jennifer Garner and

Ben Affleck’s daughters get a baby brother.

She has soldiered on heavily pregnant for weeks now. But Jennifer Garner has finally given birth to her third child.

The 39-year-old actress who is married to actor Ben Affleck has given birth to a son who joins the couple’s daughters Violet, six and Seraphina, three.

And the little girls will no doubt be delighted to have a little brother.

Few details have been released on the birth however a source confirmed the happy news to Us Weekly.

The couple, who have been married for seven years, announced Jennifer Garner third pregnancy in August 2011.

The actress did not use her pregnancy as the opportunity to put her feet up and instead was seen running errands almost daily.

Jennifer was last spotted out with her daughters just last week as she took them to a library.

Earlier this month the couple revealed they had decided to let their daughters choose the name of their unborn child.

‘Our woman are working on names. At first they were definitely Disney. It was like, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse Affleck. And then they’ve moved on. Then it was Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Smee.

‘They’re coming up with lists and coming in and saying, ‘Let’s have a baby-naming contest! Let’s have a baby-naming poll! They ask everyone, because they just want to know. But we’re not telling,’ she told E! Online.

Jennifer Garner will also play a mother in her new film, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, which will be released August 15.

In it, she and co-star Joel Edgerton play a ‘childless couple who bury a box in their backyard, containing all of their wishes for an infant. Soon, a child is born, though he is not all that he appears.’

Corrie Brooke Vincent

Miaow! Corrie Brooke Vincent shows off

her wild side in leopard print dress.

She’s used to dressing up in dowdy clothing when she takes to the cobbles for Coronation Street filming.

But during her time off Brooke Vincent clearly likes to let her hair down and vamp up her style.

The actress stepped out on Tuesday night showing off her animal magnetism in a figure-hugging leopard print dress.

And she showed she is every inch the style queen when she’s not dressing as her alter-ego Sophie Webster.

Brooke stepped out channeling Liz Hurley’s staple look with her big brunette hair and hourglass frock.

The 19-year-old wore the strappy number as she enjoyed a night out at London’s Aura nightclub.

She dressed her look up even more with a pair of gold peep toe Louboutin heels with a chunky gold ring and watch.

And to give herself even more of a vampish look, Brooke put on lashings of smoky eye make-up and painted her nails red for her night on the town.

The actress even matched her nail polish to her scarlet clutch bag.

Brooke normally takes to Manchester for her partying nights out and has recently been spotted enjoying the offerings in Essex with her TOWIE pals.

But she was clearly looking forward to a night in the capital as she took to Twitter the day before.

She wrote: ‘Still dawdling around at this time organising for tomorrow excited mucho!! Something abit diff! London here we come :) .’

And as she travelled to the city she added: ‘En Route :) Very Xcited!!’

The teenager has been making the most of her time off recently by hitting a number of glitzy events.

She was most recently seen at the Gavin Blyth Memorial Ball, this time channeling a mermaid in a floorlength striking green gown.

And she was joined by her co-star Kym Marsh, who also wore a similar ensemble with her own emerald frock at the charity event.

Julia Roberts

‘There’s the express elevator and there’s rehab’:

Julia Roberts explains why today’s young

Hollywood stars are doomed.

Tinseltown’s next generation of rising stars have been given a stark warning from an actress who has seen it all.

Oscar winner Julia Roberts said that she pities today’s young Hollywood stars because they either make it big and safely become famous or go straight to rehab.

The 44-year-old, who got her big break in showbusiness at age 22 when she starred in Pretty Woman, thinks that actors don’t get a chance to prove themselves anymore and that makes fame much tougher for them.

Speaking to Vanity Fair magazine she said: ‘The business is so different; you can never be that new girl that has that moment of ‘Where’d she come from?’

She added: ‘There’s the express elevator and there’s rehab. It’s so awful; nobody gets a fair trial-and-error period that everybody deserves and everybody needs.’

Julia’s words of wisdom are particularly poignant for her 21-year-old niece Emma Roberts who is trying to forge a career in her aunt’s footprints.

The mother-of-three confessed to the magazine that she is worried about raising seven-year-old twins Hazel and Finn and four-year-old Henry in the spotlight.

However, recalling an incident when she was out with her children, the Erin Brockovich star revealed that they don’t associate the two worlds.

She said once she was ‘on a crowded street, and somebody noticed me, and then another person noticed. Somebody said as we were walking past, ‘Oh, that’s Julia Roberts.’

‘We all just kind of kept going, and then Finn said, ‘Yeah, my mom’s Julia Robinson.’

‘That’s what gives you perspective. It could be Robinson, it could be Johnson, because it has nothing to do with me as a person.’

A meeting with Meryl Streep’s daughter Grace Gummer gave her hope that children can turn out ok.

She said: ‘Grace comes up and goes, ‘Gosh, it’s so sweet seeing all your kids on the set. It reminds me of when I was little, and I would go see my mom at work.’

‘I said, ‘How old were you when you realized your mom was Meryl Streep?’ She said, ‘I think I was probably nine when I put that all together.’

‘I said, ‘Were you cool with it?’ She said, ‘Yeah, it was fine. There was no trauma.’ So that was hopeful.’

Older

Older mothers fuelling biggest ever baby boom:

900,000 pregnancies in a year beats post-war record.

A boom in motherhood among older women has driven up the number of pregnancies to record levels, official figures revealed yesterday.

For the first time, more than 900,000 women became pregnant in a year, a level not reached even during the baby boom years after World War Two.

The unprecedented number of conceptions was fuelled by the fast-rising rates of pregnancy among women in their 30s  and 40s.

The latest figures show that 40-somethings were becoming pregnant in  2010 at more than double the rate of two decades ago.

In a single year, conception rates for women in this age group rose by 5.2 per cent.

The increase for those aged 34 to 39 was 4.5 per cent and 4.9 per cent for those aged 30 to 34.

The Office for National Statistics said the latest leap was down to the race among working women to catch up and have the families they missed out on in their 20s.

This is a new influence in addition to the factors driving rates in recent years: high immigration and the arrival in Britain of large numbers of women of child-bearing age who then have families.

Many women may also be influenced by the recession making family life more important. Newly jobless women and those with less work also have more time for family.

The report said the rise in numbers of conceptions ‘could be attributed to the increased contribution of women aged 30 and over, or possibly due to the economic climate following the 2008-2009 recession.

‘Family may also be valued more highly during tough economic times and, as parents could be out of work, they may have more time to spend on child rearing.’

The ONS said the reasons for more over-40s conceiving include delaying motherhood by participating in higher education, holding off on marriage and the desire to get ahead in their careers to buy a home and be financially secure before starting a family.

Migrants who were not in Britain in their early child-bearing years have also boosted levels by becoming mothers later in life, said the report.

According to the 2010 figures, 909,245 women in England and Wales became pregnant. This was a rise of 1.4 per cent on the 896,466 pregnancies in the previous year.

There were 723,165 babies born with the average age for new mothers now almost 30.

Just over one in five of the pregnancies, slightly fewer than 190,000, ended in abortion. Half of conceptions to girls under 18 ended in terminations.

There have not been so many pregnancies in England and Wales before.
Numbers have never reached 900,000 since the 1967 Abortion Act came into operation, legalising terminations.

The baby boom peaked in 1964, when there were 880,173 maternities, which are comparable to conceptions now. In the post-war year of 1947, there were 891,504 maternities.

According to the latest figures, conception rates for women in their 20s remained flat.

Those in their early 30s were the least probable to have an abortion, with 12.6 cent of pregnancies among 30 to 34-year-olds terminated in 2010.

This is the age group where they are most likely to marry and  settle down.
